Church Council
The Church Council of FBC serves as the Board of Directors of the corporation. It recommends appropriate goals and objectives to the church; reviews and coordinates program plans recommended by church officers, organizations, and committees; recommends use of leadership, calendar time, and other resources according to program priorities to the congregation; and evaluates program achievements in terms of church goals and objectives.
The composition, authority, and responsibilities of Council are clearly defined by our Bylaws and can only be changed through revision of this governing document.
Voting members of Council include: Moderator, Vice Moderator, Clerk, Treasurer, Baptist Men's Director, Sunday School Director, Woman's Missionary Union Director, and Chairs of Diaconate, Finance Committee, House & Grounds Committee, and Personnel Committee. Non-voting members include the Senior Pastor, other members of the ministerial staff, and the president of the Youth Council.
The Moderator or Vice Moderator leads any called business meeting as well as the Quarterly Business Conferences held on the fourth Wednesday of January, April, July, and October.
Council meets on the second Monday of January, March, May, July, September, and November.
