WMU Missions Activities for Children and Youth
WMU organizations for children and young people meet on Wednesday nights, before and after the Wednesday night meal in the Fellowship Hall.
Mission Friends
Children ages 3, 4, and K meet at 5:30 after Children's Choir in the 4-5 year-old classroom in the Children's Department. They learn about missionaries and their lives by hearing mission stories, sampling food from the countries they study, and doing mission activities. They also enjoy crafts and games. Jennifer Hiatt is their teacher.
Mission Kids
Boys and girls from first grade to Middle School meet every Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 in a classroom in the Children's Department. They study missionaries from a particular country or state for a month at a time and do Bible activities and mission projects as that relate to their mission study. They try to visit some of our Homebound or visit our members at Ridgecrest occasionally. Barbara Blood is their teacher.
Acteens
Middle School and High School aged girls meet every Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 in the Youth Department. Their activities vary, sometimes allowing them to hear guest speakers with the adults or plan church youth activities with the Associate Pastor. But most of the time they learn about missionaries and their lives and participate in local missions by visiting nursing homes and helping at the Shepherd's House. They sometimes accompany Mission Kids on local mission experiences by acting as big sisters. Their leader is Nicole Jordan.
